SPRING ARTISAN SALE : MAY 25TH AND MAY 26TH

Neighbourhood arts and craft event, located in North Burnaby.  Follow the signage along Sperling and Kensington streets.  A variety of hand-crafted originals.  There’s some great little gift ideas for the whole family, seasonal items, home & garden décor, novelty items, stocking stuffers, greeting cards, gift tags and lots more.  New items will also be featured at introductory prices.  Rain or shine (under tent cover) sale will be held outdoors between 9:00am and 3:00pm.

All catalogued inventory will be available to purchase at this two-day event, plus more.

Acceptable methods of payment include; PayPal, direct e-transfers and/or cash.

2024 JANUARY

Happy New Year!

 

This past year was a busy one in my workshop and no plans for me to stop creating!  Over the past few years I’ve been creating a number of seasonal and home décor items and testing the artist markets.  Some items sold very quick and I will continue to stock up on those pieces.  It appears as though Christmas is a real favourite for most of you.  That being said, this year I may focus on Christmas alone.  We’ll see if there’s any truth to that statement since the seasonal temptations can sometimes take over my creativity!  Some favorites will continue to find places in your homes, and I’ll be sure to post new stuff as they are completed.

 

During this year’s Spring Artisan Sale, I will discount any remaining stock from my current catalogues, and in the fall I will feature a number of new items for 2024, highlighting the festive holiday season at that time.  I’m always excited to get started on something new!

A few more pieces I’ve been working on are now available to purchase and have been added to the Needlework Catalogue on my website.  In the descriptions, I have included the “fair market value” as a reference to compare pricing.  I have also included the name of the original designer or pattern that has been obtained for each piece, and the reference date when possible.  Pieces that have been professionally framed include stretching, mounting, and UV glass to protect and prevent the textiles from fading. Some of these pieces are not framed so that you can choose your own frame to suite your individual décor.

2023 JULY

Relaxed Summer

 

Throughout this summer I’ve been rediscovering the relaxing art of needlework.  That is “relaxing” if you’re stitching more that you’re unpicking!  I’ve always had an interest, and been drawn to the schoolgirl samplers from the UK dating back to the late 1700’s and early 1800’s.  Historically, these samplers were created so that young girls could learn the alphabet in order to help them learn how to read.  But most importantly, they would learn how to stitch, since during this time period, as a woman, it was their duty to acquire this skill.  My how times have changed!  Some of the historical samplers share family history or tell a story of the time period.  For further interest you should check out some of the major auction houses online.  Maybe in 200 years my work might have some value!

2023 FEBRUARY

I know we’re just recovering from last Christmas, but I needed to restock my inventory for the 2023 festive season.  I’ve just added some new Christmas Cards in the 2023 Seasonal Catalogue.  My Christmas cards sold out in 2022 so thought I’d better get a bit of a head start this year.  These cards are hand-stitched by yours truly and are blank inside for you to write your own personal messages.  I’ll post more Christmas items as they are completed and become available to purchase.  Seems there’s never a dull moment in my workshop lately, and I’m truly grateful for all your support!

2022 AUGUST

 Fall is approaching quickly and so is my Local Artisan Sale and looking forward to seeing everyone out again this year, rain or shine.  This year we've added a little something extra,  a gift basket that will be raffled off at the end of the 2 days' sale.  You must attend in person to enter the raffle draw.   Items continue to be added to this gift basket and it's now worth over $300 in retail value!

2022 JULY

It's been another busy year!  A few changes in the works.  By popular demand at last year's Artisan Sale, I've created a load of Christmas items, these items are now catalogued and available to purchase.  A large variety of Christmas items will be featured at this years' Artisan Sale.  The Christmas catalogue is posted on my Product Catalogue Page.  I will be hosting this years' Artisan Sale during the first weekend of September, and hope to see you there again (see details below).   

 

I have recently taken a break from Etsy online store.  Very little sales and traffic on that site for me and the accounting side of things are becoming a little too complicated for this ol' gal.  I like to keep it simple and easy for everyone to purchase directly.

New works in the making... Wrapped stones, a weaving technique on stone.  This is a bit tedious, but having fun with it.  Wrapped stones add a nice accent to your home decor or meditation space.  Will post when complete.  Stay tuned...

2020 DECEMBER

Apparently Flash Player will no longer supported as of December 31st and my website was soon to become obsolete.  Since my site was running Flash Player, I was forced to create a new website (this one), launched on December 23rd.  An online store is also in the works for this new site and should be up and running in early 2021.  Always a work-in-progress.

2020 SEPTEMBER

It's finally happened!  I've had some extra spare time these past few months (no kidding!), so I decided it's time to set up an online store.  I've been debating for a very long time on where, when and how I should do this to make it easy for everyone.  There's so many platforms out there to choose from, and I wanted to be certain I'd be in the right place that would capture the right audience.  I decided today to dive in to Etsy and set up shop.  Why I selected Etsy was to make some of my work readily available to all those who have been requesting it.  Now all I have to do is build my inventory!  I would like to sell direct with my own online store, but at this moment I cannot dedicate 100% of my time to retail.  If you like shopping online you'll be able to purchase some of my original work there.  My shop name on Etsy is titled: WinslowArtCanada and the link below should take you straight there.​

2020 SEPTEMBER

This has turned out to be an unusual year to say the least.  Being isolated can be a challenge at best.  However, I've managed to keep myself busy with what I like to call my "isolation therapy".  I've been working on a number of different art projects and thought it was time to share this one...some unique hand painted stones, which I've also compiled a catalogue. 

​

Each stone was chosen from local rivers with the intension to create something special for everyone.  Individual original pieces of art using acrylic paints and each piece has been treated with a coating of varnish to preserve the artwork.  These items are ideal for good little keepsakes or anything you want them to be, meditation & spiritual balance, home décor accents, plant pot accents, outdoor garden accents, paper weights, pocket pebbles, purse pebbles, gifts to please others or just to make you feel good holding one.  These stones are priced accordingly by weight and not by design.  I can ship worldwide (additional shipping and handling charges will apply).  A wide range of stones are available.  For further inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

2020 MARCH

Projects in the works have had a lengthy delayed due to a number of personal losses in the past few years.  Motivation and inspiration has eluded me during this difficult time, however, I've been able to re-focus lately to find my inspiration again.  I'm getting back to some creative projects this year and heading in some new directions.  New things are in the making and on their way and will be posted on my website accordingly.  Thank you for your patience and continued support!
